Today involved rock scrambling and shale sliding as we hiked to gaze again at the steep gourge of the main river channel. We then followed a deer trail to access the river, unspoiled beauty. After that we piled in the truck to find Secret Lake, no signs, only logging roads and trails. Lily pads, mammoth granite slabs, stillness broken only by the jump of a fish and the slight movement of water at the inlet.
When we got home, I began a google search to begin to learn more. Sometime soon, I'll head to our local historical library ...251 ideas...
